The St. Nicholas Project has been a long tradition at St. John Chrysostom Parish. Our mission is to provide gifts during the Christmas season to our homebound and needy brothers and sisters in the community.
Volunteers are needed for an hour or two once or twice in late November and early December to help organize and deliver gifts to recipient agencies.
Our charities include:
Stinson Towers, a low-income 55+ housing facility for men and women with handicaps or disabilities. The members of St. John's Youth Group organize a party for residents where they distribute each person’s gift. We deliver 160-170 personal gifts. For most residents, this is the ONLY Christmas present they will receive.
CityTeam, which provides food, clothing, shelter, recovery assistance and pastoral care to the men, women and children of Chester. At Christmas, we assist them by collecting new games, toys, and gift certificates for approximately 160 children and families.
Homebound members of our parish who are alone or homebound are remembered with a gift to let them know someone cares.
