Beginning Saturday, Sept. 10, St. John Chrysostom will be the site of a weekly Al-Anon meeting. Meetings will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturdays in the Stevenson Center. These meetings are open to everyone in our community and beyond. Al-Anon is a support group for family and friends affected by alcoholism, whether or not the individual is still drinking. St. John's also is the site of an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meeting at 8:30 p.m. every Thursday in the Stevenson Center. Both the Al-Anon and AA meetings are run wholly by their organizations, according to their guidelines, and independently of St. John's. As Christians, we pray for healing and wholeness for all families touched by addiction. Recommended reading: Breathing Underwater: Spirituality & the 12 Steps, by Richard Rohr.
